Yau Chyong Lim

Chief Operating Officer

Yau Chyong Lim is MEASAT's Chief Operating Officer. In this role, he oversees the management of the company's business and operations.

Yau has more than 25 years in the satellite Industry, with wide-ranging experience across multiple sectors including sales & marketing, business development, network, engineering, and commercial operations.

Yau was named as the Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council (APSCC) Satellite Executive of the year 2022 for his outstanding contributions to the satellite communications field.

Under his leadership, MEASAT has also been recognised as the Regional Satcom Operator of the Year 2023 by Euroconsult during the World Satellite Business Week conference in Paris.

He currently serves as a Board Member of APSCC and is the Deputy Chair of Malaysia SpaceTech (PIKOM).

He holds an MBA in Finance from Keele University, Staffordshire, UK and a BSc in Microelectronics & Physics from Campbell University, North Carolina, USA.

Dr. Edmund Kong

Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Edmund Kong is MEASAT's Chief Technology Officer. In this role, he oversees the company's Satellite Engineering Operations, Spectrum Management, Satellite Launch Procurement and Technology Development departments, including the construction and launch of the MEASAT-3d satellite in 2022.

Dr. Kong has more than 25 years of experience in the satellite industry. Prior to joining MEASAT, he was the GEOStar-3 Product Line Chief Engineer at Orbital ATK. He was also the Chief Engineer responsible for the design, build, test and commission of the MEASAT-3a spacecraft.

He holds a PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and spent four years at MIT Space Systems Laboratory as Research Scientist.

Chee Wai Loon

Chief Financial Officer

Chee Wai Loon is MEASAT's Chief Financial Officer. In this role, he oversees MEASAT’s Finance and Administration Department and work with the Senior Management Team to develop and implement overall business strategy for the company.

Wai Loon has over 20 years of experience in accounting, finance, tax, treasury and risk management. Prior to joining MEASAT, Wai Loon was the Chief Financial Officer at GroupM Malaysia. He has also held senior finance positions in Apical Group, Mewah Group and PwC Malaysia.

Wai Loon holds a Master of Finance from RMIT University, Australia and a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of Adelaide, Australia. He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and CPA Australia.

 

Ganendra Selvaraj

Chief Commercial Officer

Ganendra Selvaraj is MEASAT’s Chief Commercial Officer. In this role, he oversees MEASAT’s Sales, Customer Engineering, Business Development and Corporate Communications functions.

With close to 20 years of experience in the Telecommunications industry, Ganendra has performed a broad spectrum of technical and commercial roles within MEASAT. Ganendra will be focusing on building the MEASAT customer base and expand its commercial activities in support of the MEASAT Group’s long-term strategy.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Kansas and Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute.

Tan Lian Kim

General Counsel

Tan Lian Kim is MEASAT's General Counsel. In this role, she oversees the company's Legal and Regulatory departments.

Kim has over 20 years legal experience. Prior to MEASAT, she practiced law at the firm of Messrs. Skrine.

Kim graduated with a Bachelor of Laws, or LLB, from the University of London and was called to the Malaysian bar in 1997.

Dr. Ali R. Ebadi

Advisor to the Board of Directors

Dr. Ali R. Ebadi is MEASAT's Advisor to the Board of Directors. In this role, he advises on MEASAT's overall orbital slot development strategy. He also assists in the management of the spectrum needs and filing process for future MEASAT satellites.

Dr. Ali has more than 30 years of experience in the satellite industry. He was in charge of the design and procurement of the six spacecraft in MEASAT's satellite fleet. He was also a member of the ITU's Radio Regulations Board (RRB) from 2006 to 2014, and its Vice Chairman and Chairman in 2008 and 2009, respectively.

He is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with the Institution of Engineers Australia (IEAust), Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology United Kingdom (IET) and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Engineers (IEM).

Mohammad Akmal Yahaya

Vice President - Information Technology & Digital Transformation

Akmal is MEASAT’s Vice President of Information Technology & Digital Transformation (“ITDT”). He oversees the operations and management of the company-wide IT and cybersecurity requirements.

With close to 30 years of experience, Akmal joined MEASAT in 1995 as one of the pioneering engineers in Satellite Ground Engineering at the MEASAT Satellite Control Centre (“MSCC”) in Gunung Raya, Langkawi. Throughout his tenure, he led Satellite Payload Operations, progressed to the Network Management Center (“NMC”), and subsequently assumed a pivotal role in the Digital Transformation Department. Akmal has been a core team member since MEASAT's initiation of community broadband services with the MCMC’s WiFi Komuniti project in 2015.

Akmal holds a BEng Electrical Engineering from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Yoong Gin Way

Vice President - Finance & Administration

Yoong Gin Way is MEASAT's Vice President - Finance & Administration. In this role, he oversees MEASAT’s Finance and Administration Department.

Gin Way has more than 25 years of experience in accounting, finance, tax, treasury and risk management. Prior to joining MEASAT, he was the Finance Business Partner (Aerospace Division, Asia) at Senior plc, UK. He has also held senior finance positions in listed companies such as LB Aluminium Berhad and Guocoland (Malaysia) Berhad.

Gin Way holds a degree of Bachelor of Business from RMIT University, Australia. He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and CPA Australia.

Teh Chin Eng

Associate Vice President - Business Development

Teh Chin Eng is MEASAT’s Associate Vice President - Business Development. In this role, he will be responsible for identifying and developing opportunities for the growth of the business.

Chin Eng has more than 20 years of experience in the satellite and broadcast industry. He is re-joining MEASAT after being involved in the establishment of a new start-up in integrated broadcast and OTT services. Chin Eng originally joined MEASAT in year 2000 and he is a subject matter expert in spectrum and orbital slot filings with the ITU.

He holds an MBA from the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK and a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Adelaide, Australia.

Jeevan Rao Subramaniam

Associate Vice President - Network Engineering & Operations

Jeevan Rao Subramaniam is MEASAT’s Associate Vice President – Network Engineering & Operations. In this role, he oversees company’s Network Management Centre, Network Operations and Network Engineering departments.

Jeevan has close to 25 years of experience in satellite communications, broadcast and telecommunications industry, he brings experience in both space and ground segments; video broadcasting and DTH; VSAT and cellular backhaul networks.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (Mechatronics) from University Technology Malaysia and Master of Science in Communications & Network Engineering from University Putra Malaysia.

 

Mohd Muzaini Mohammud

Associate Vice President - Satellite Engineering & Operations

Mohd Muzaini Mohammud is MEASAT’s Associate Vice President – Satellite Engineering & Operations. In this role, he oversees the company’s Satellite Control, Satellite Engineering and Orbital Operations departments.

With more than 20 years of experience in the satellite industry, Muzaini is involved in a broad range of satellite in-orbit operations and satellite development activities that includes monitoring performance and ensuring the safety and health of the entire MEASAT satellite fleet.

He holds a BSE degree (Aerospace Engineering) from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, USA, and a Master’s in Engineering Management from Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Mercy In Chia Min

Associate Vice President - Finance

Mercy In is MEASAT's Associate Vice President - Finance. In this role, she oversees MEASAT’s Finance Department.

Mercy has over 20 years of progressive experience in various finance functions including financial and cost accounting, audit and statutory reporting, taxation, budgeting and forecasting, financial planning, and analysis.

Mercy graduated from National University of Malaysia with bachelor’s degree in Accounting and is a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
