| Sun outage occurs when the earth station, satellite and the sun are aligned resulting in an increase in the receiving ground station's system noise temperature and a degradation in satellite receive signal. Sun outages occur twice a year during Vernal and Autumnal Equinox, each occasion for a few consecutive days and each day for a short amount of time. The predicted duration of the outage mainly depends on the frequency of operation, receiving antenna size, and the location of the earth station. As this is a prediction, the actual outage duration may differ. For satellite operated at inclined orbit, the tool provided below will not be applicable.
