Started career with Jabatan Telekom Malaysia (JTM) in 1974 and has held various positions in the areas of engineering, marketing and human resource management. Dato' Dr Idris bin Ibrahim was promoted as Vice President of Integrated Network Planning in 1996 and Vice President of Network Development in 1997. He was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer, TM Telco, a division within Telekom Malaysia Berhad in February 2001 and was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer, TM Wholesale on 1 July 2004.
