On 11 November 2005, MEASAT Global announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd (“MEASAT”) had entered into contracts with Orbital Sciences Corporation (“Orbital”) for the purchase of a new satellite, MEASAT-1R, associated equipment and services. On 10 March 2006, the Company announced that a contract for launch and program management services was entered into by MEASAT with PanAmSat Corporation (now known as Intelsat Corporation) for MEASAT-1R.
Subsequently on 26 February 2008, MEASAT announced that MEASAT-1R which was renamed MEASAT-3a has been allocated a launch in the third quarter of 2008.
Further to the aforesaid announcements, the Board of MEASAT Global is pleased to announce that the MEASAT-3a satellite has secured a launch on 21 August 2008.
