On 28 February 2006, MEASAT Global Berhad (“MEASAT Global” or “the Company”) announced that the MEASAT-3 satellite was not expected to be available for launch before the latter half of 2006.
Further to the aforesaid announcement, the Board of MEASAT Global wishes to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd (“MSS”) has now received formal notification from International Launch Services ("ILS") on behalf of Lockheed-Khrunichev-Energia International, Inc. ("LKEI"), the designated launch service provider for the MEASAT-3 satellite, that MEASAT-3 has been allocated a launch slot from 28 November 2006 to 26 January 2007. In their communication, ILS also stated that, for planning purposes, they were targeting a launch towards the beginning of this period. MSS has confirmed acceptance of the launch slot and has informed the spacecraft manufacturer, Boeing Satellite Systems International, Inc. to prepare the spacecraft for launch.
LKEI provides launch services using the Proton Breeze M launch vehicle and is the designated launch service provider for the MEASAT-3 satellite. ILS is the marketing organisation for Proton launch vehicles, which are engineered, manufactured and launched by LKEI and ILS is authorised on behalf of LKEI, to correspond with MSS on issues in relation to the scheduling of the MEASAT-3 launch.
