The Board of Directors of MEASAT Global wishes to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd ("MEASAT"), has on 13 January 2010 brought into service the AFRICASAT-2 satellite at the 5.7°E orbital location.
The AFRICASAT-2 satellite was previously known as MEASAT-2 and had been operating at the 148°E orbital location. The MEASAT-2 customers have all been migrated to other MEASAT satellites over the last 18 months.
Now operating in inclined orbit at the 5.7°E orbital location, AFRICASAT-2 provides both C and Ku-Band capacity for telecommunications and broadcasting services across Africa, Southern Europe and the Middle East.
The relocation of AFRICASAT-2 has no material impact on the gearing, net assets and earnings per share of the MEASAT Global Group for the financial year ending 31 December 2010.
Attached is a Press Release dated 15 January 2010.
