Since 1996, MEASAT has provided reliable satellite solutions to customers across the Asia-Pacific region. The MEASAT fleet comprising MEASAT-3, MEASAT-2 and AFRICASAT-1 satellites extends MEASAT’s reach to over 145 countries representing 80% of the world’s population across Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Europe and Australia.
The MEASAT network supports many of the region's leading broadcasters, DTH operators and telecommunications companies. MEASAT supports the Astro DTH service in Malaysia, providing DTH multi-channel television services to over 2.5 million subscribers, as well as DTH services in Indonesia, Australia, Vietnam, and India. MEASAT is also used by many of the region's leading broadcasters and cable channels to distribute television programming to cable head-ends, and by telecommunications operators to support remote connectivity, GSM and corporate VSAT networks.

To meet growing customer needs, and provide critical in-orbit redundancy at the 91.5šE orbital location, in 2005 MEASAT contracted Orbital Sciences Corporation to build and deliver its fourth satellite, MEASAT-3a to be launched in 2008. MEASAT-3a will provide an additional 12 C-band transponders providing coverage across a region bounded by Africa and Eastern Europe in the West, through to Japan and Australia in the East. With 12 Ku-band transponders, and high powered spot beams focused on Malaysia and Indonesia, MEASAT-3a has also been designed to provide distinctive satellite coverage for Direct to Home Video and Data Services.
Leveraging facilities at the MEASAT Teleport and Broadcast Centre, a world class teleport facility located just outside of Kuala Lumpur, and working with a select group of world-class media partners including Astro, Ascent Media, Pacific Century Matrix and ST Teleport, MEASAT provides a complete range of broadcast services including Standard Definition and High Definition video playout, up-linking, fibre and co-location services.
